Diocese of Portsmouth COVID-19 Funeral Ministry

As COVID-19 infection rates increase in the coming weeks and months, it is anticipated that there will be an unprecedented increase in deaths from this disease. In order to serve our communities in our parishes during this period we are seeking to provide a central point of contact for funeral ministry provision across the diocese via a dedicated diocesan phone number 023 9289 9697 and email address,  These details have been circulated to Funeral Directors.

Diocesan Office Reception will answer all calls to this dedicated phone number. The funeral ministry admin team will check if the local parish priest is available as the preferred best option. But if they already know that person is ill or self-isolating, or they cannot be contacted, the staff member will contact another local minister and link them with the funeral director instead.

Bereavement is a difficult time for all concerned and we pray for God’s special touch in your life if you have suffered the loss of a partner, relative or friend.

The practicalities of dealing with arranging a funeral and other matters can be daunting and no doubt you will be making arrangements through a funeral director who will guide you with the choice and availability of both churches and Clergy.

If as an individual or as funeral director you need to contact St. Paul's to arrange a funeral service in the church  you can do so using this form and
we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

In most cases your funeral director will advise you of and collect all the fees required.
